Airlines resolve lack of emergency pacific runway space

Airports are being asked to allocate no less than 40 percent of their runway space by 2030 to international flights. The airlines already manage more than 1.7 million feet of runway, but airports are being asked to use some 1.4 million feet of that for domestic operations and to use a much smaller portion for international. If they cannot reach a consensus, the airlines will request a change in this decision, potentially eliminating some international flights from routes.

While there are some cases of "flights from islands and remote areas" being flown, this is very rare. Airlines flying within 50 miles of the nearest US air hub already have adequate domestic and international traffic in the region, meaning there is no reason to limit domestic operations. Airlines flying within 50 miles of China also already have sufficient domestic and international traffic in the region, meaning there is no reason to limit domestic operations.

"One of the things airlines must manage to deal with is the issue of how much cargo is going out of their domestic network," says James Tompkins, a consultant for the National Air Traffic Association. He says these flights should be treated with urgency to ensure their long-term maintenance.

The question at hand is not whether carriers can or should meet this demand, but how many and where. For this, a common measure is how much time each airline takes between a request for an approval and the opportunity to make it happen.

As many as 8 in 10 international carriers (72.3 percent) meet this requirement. Only 12 other carriers manage an even more demanding level of compliance, at 48.7 percent of the air traffic in the US.

Loss of long-term runway

International Airlines, Inc. of Boston is the world's largest carrier of commercial airliners, flying 7,600 flights per day, more than 2,200 miles and more than half of which are between the U.S., Canada and Latin America.

The company currently manages only 5 percent of its international air traffic, about half that of other carriers, which would be considered a poor match with its current demands.

International Airlines owns one-third of US Airways Group, which is one of the most important domestic carriers of its kind in the world.

To meet these demands, International Airlines has decided to divest from its international operations and close seven international airports.

American Airlines, a major U.S. airline, is also in discussions with airlines to close its domestic operations and close its Vancouver terminal.

Roughly 6,400 international flight hours per year are flown to and from the US and Canada, and one-quarter of these travel to destinations outside the US. The US has the fewest international destinations of any region in th

Ex nrl parramatta eels player given additional drug charges after he allegedly punched rival in the face - reports

Parramatta have named a representative to defend their new player in court as Parramatta Eels forward Matt Parrama has been charged with four charges.

The Eels released a statement on their website on Thursday night saying that Parramatta player Johnathan Thurston would be facing a number of charges.

According to the police incident report for the incident at East Lakes on August 19, 2015, the alleged victim stated he was assaulted by Thurston in the street when they met with a prostitute outside the Hotel de France.

The video of the incident was uploaded to YouTube and has since been viewed over a million times.

A video was released by the Eels later that night and featured Thurston speaking with the alleged victim on camera.

Thurston is accused of punching him during an altercation and causing severe facial injuries.

Thurston is due to appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court on February 17 to face the charges.

The report for the assault and assault of a girl alleged in the complaint also listed a number of offences involving violence by a police officer.

While the report didn't include the alleged incident in the video uploaded to YouTube, NRL chief executive Dave Smith issued a statement on Friday afternoon in which he commended the NRL for its handling of the matter.

"Our top priority is always the welfare of our players, who play for the NRL for five minutes or less every week and for the sport in general," Smith said.

"The club takes abuse very seriously and we're pleased to have an independent body to investigate this incident to ensure that the players who are involved, and those who may face disciplinary action in the future, are properly held accountable."

The Eels' statement said that all charges laid against him would be against him from the moment he had entered the club in December 2013.

There were no further comment from Thurston or the club following the statement on the matter.

It comes as the NRL announced a two-week suspension for former player Jason Taumalolo following his public comments about being an alcoholic.

NRL chief executive Dave Smith is confident all clubs will soon be reformed to make players "the centre of attention in training and in any team meeting".

Central qld town isolated as floodwaters rise from river to flood plains flooding homes, businesses

Hundreds of residents have been evacuated across Brisbane after a big, high-pressure ridge of water over the River Cremorne burst its banks into the city.

The river's crest hit the city overnight and rose up to more than 8.5 metres in some parts of the inner-city.

Floodwaters rose so high that emergency management buildings and hospitals were flooded in some areas, the City of Brisbane said on Twitter.

Aerial photographs showed the river bank at more than 11 kilometres away from the city's coast.

It was downgraded to a river in Queensland State Highway 1 and has since been diverted to its more easterly route to Crampton River.

Mayor Graham Quirk said the banks could easily cause a serious incident if they hit the roads.

Residents and businesses in several areas were forced to flee.

Sydney's City Hall has moved its offices from the site of a fatal flood to a flood-tolerant building because of the danger.

A City of Brisbane spokeswoman said it had sent flood protection crews and local police officers to help with rescue and recovery efforts.

"The river rose to such a height at 3:30pm local time that a small number of water tanks were overflowing and could not be secured and moved out of the way and into place, therefore the City's flood-resistant facility was temporarily closed," she said.

Bureau of Meteorology Deputy Forecaster Nick Chubb said there had been "major" flooding at an airport near Toowoomba where about 400 people were evacuated in anticipation of flood waters.

He warned people to take shelter immediately.

The main street near the airport was completely washed out as water from the River Cremorne rose to almost the sky.

The National Disaster Bureau issued an orange alert for parts of South and Central Queensland, and emergency services were alerted on four major regional highways.

Queensland Fire Service tweeted there was "major flooding" in the city and warnings of serious damage were being issued.

It said a flood watch had been declared in North Queensland, and that the high risk of flooding remained high.

Rural Council chief executive Tony Fergus said people needed to be aware of the risks in their areas as flood waters rose.

The South Coast is currently undergoing more heavy rains than normal.

About 140 firefighters were called to rescue floodwater survivors in St Mary's Lake on Friday night, while rescuers were battling another high tide that brought the lake to water levels twice its normal level.

"We have experienced an unusual situation during the past couple of days which has resulted in heav

Religious ire at nude move has risen, with several mosques condemning it.

"Why do they think that they can go to the mosque and say things like that, that should be totally against Islam?" she told The Sunday People. "I am shocked that someone would believe it."

She was taken aback by the reaction and believes the government had no idea what was in the plans for the mosque.

The former mayor of the western county city of Leipzig, who has spoken at the annual festival for several years, told Bild he hoped more Muslim communities would join the movement and join the cause.

"It is time that everybody should have the right to worship anywhere they want and for the same things, such as swimming in the sea or using their mobile phones and TV," he said.

It was one of a series of proposals at the beginning of December by the state of Bavaria to put up five mosques and a book store on state-owned land near the city centre.

Officials said the project was seen by Germany as the best possible future for a mosque in Leipzig.

A government spokesman confirmed to the broadcaster N24 that it had received suggestions from several organisations.

It would be funded through €13,800, of which the state received €10,854, after an initial grant of €9,824 had been approved.

The spokesman insisted the money would be used solely on the religious project for the Islamic Centre.

It means Leipzig's biggest Muslim community has a potential financial boost from a government project it will not fully approve.

The newspaper reports a group of about 35 residents in Leipzig's capital were shocked to see their local mosque - built in a traditional Islamic building - set aside for a future Muslim centre.

"To hear this is just not in the slightest bit right," said one woman from the town of Darmstadt, according to The Sunday People.

She added it showed a lack of concern by government to local residents, rather than "putting out an official call to action about the plans".

Some residents were angry at the suggestion that they were not allowed to have "non-Muslim access" to the mosque.
